Where have I been?

It has been a long time since I have blogged and so much has happened. The Tea Towel Tour 4 is done the picture above is what I did on others towels and I will post my apron later this week. The gals did an outstanding job.

I have been embroidering lots of custom Christmas items for my shop. It has been a lot of fun. I plan on posting the patterns I used for the items this week. You might have noticed that my vintage embroidery blog is gone. It turns out that Vogart is under copyright so I had to take down all of my vogart patterns and then I only had 4 patterns on the blog so it seemed useless to keep a blog for those. Since, I have bought a huge box of workbasket patterns and will be posting a new pattern once a week on this blog. I hope you will all enjoy them.

I have been knitting a lot lately. I think it is the cold weather and the warm feel of the wool on my hands that keeps me knitting. I actually finished my first sock this last weekend. I was so excited that the whole way home after Thanksgiving I talked about my knitted sock and all the new socks I planned to make. I bored T to death but then again I have to hear about music stuff and all the new computer games so I am sure it was fair right? Well in my head it is fair and I am always right. hehe.

Here is where I get a little personal so stop reading if you like.
T and I have been trying to have kids for the last 10 years and have done several rounds of fertility treaments and they were unsuccessful. Since the hormones and stuff made me a crazy girl with mood swings all the time we stopped and decided to just try and if it happened it happened.

Then I turned 32 last year and I was like hey I am getting older and we either need to start treatments again or decide to adopt. So we decided to do one more round of fertility treatments and I went to our women's health clinic to see the fertility Dr. and he decided to do a surgery where they go up inside with a camera and see if my tubes are open and look around the uterus. Well it turns out I have the worst body parts ever and he punctured my uterus. They quickly scheduled another surgery two weeks later and the same thing happened. This time they were able to get the camera in and take out a tissue sample. They found out that I have uterine cancer.

The cancer is slow moving and totally contained in the uterus. That is a good thing. I am on medication that is suppose to help breakup the tissue inside. The Dr. knows I still want to have children so we are going this alternative route instead of the normal hysterectomy. The down side is that this medicine makes me so tired and gives me the worst cramps in all my life. On the upside we caught it early and I still might be able to have children. In six month (April) I will go back in to have a tissue sample taken to see if it is working.

I still plan to blog just not as often and I am still a crafting fool.

To leave on a better note here are some alien buttons I made. T loves aliens and big foot so he loves these buttons. Now just to figure out a big foot pattern. If you have one let me know.

It is already December?

Where did the year go? Ever notice how fast time goes the older you get. I really do not like that thought. I do not want to get older. I want to stay forever at the age I am and never move, but I still want presents.

My tea towel has made it home. It took awhile but it was so worth the wait. Everyone did a wonderful job. I can not wait for the next one in January. Hope you all will join us.

The tree has been bought and the lights have been strung now on to the decorating. This year is our vintage tree only vintage and handmade ornaments are allowed on the tree. They look so wonderful. I can not wait to get started decorating it.

Now all that is left is finishing the handmade gifts and buying the last of the other gifts then Christmas will done and I can rest and enjoy it. I started the blanket for my SIL last night and I was surprised and how much I have already gotten done. It is half way done I think I might be running out of yarn so it will have to be a lap blanket. We set a spending limit on gifts and I am already slightly over. We all go over but we try not to too much.

I hope you are all enjoying the Christmas get-togethers and good food. I might be off and on a bit as my life is getting busy with music programs (7 of them in the next 2 weeks) and 2 work Christmas parties not to mention getting together with friends. I might complain but I love it. I love being busy.

Christmas Swap

Now that Halloween is over I guess I can talk a little about Christmas. I really shouldn't since Thanksgiving is not even here but I must I love Christmas so much.

I am in an ornament swap and this is a test run to see if I should make these. Part of me says yes and the other is no keep them for yourself. I really like the patterns from Sublime Stitching.

I have become a swap addict lately and mostly embroidery don't get me wrong I like to sew and crochet but right now the embroidery but has bitten pretty hard and I have no will power to speak of so embroidery I must. Next time I type it will be with embroidery calloused fingers.

Sleep Crafting

Have you ever fallen asleep while doing a craft project only to wake up and think that maybe you were "craft sleeping"? That happened on my last project I was rushing to get it done and it was all I could do to keep my eyes open. I was even doing that one eye open to rest the other one but I am still awake I will get this done. I did not get it done on time I took an extra day because I just could not get the face to look right without her looking possessed. You will have to tell me if you think she looks a little demonic in the eyes.

I am torturing myself a bit. I have signed up for 2 more swaps and I am going to be making presents for my side of the family. We decided that we were going to do a homemade Christmas . I am so excited about this. I have not done one since the Christmas where my parents did not have any money to buy us gifts and my dad had extra wood in the garage and he made my brother an x-wing fighter and made me a little kitchen. My mom had extra fabric and made my brother some huge pillows that were stuffed with worn out clothes (boy I hated pillow fights with him after that. One hit and you were down for the count) she made my existing doll bed into a canopy to match my canpy bed. My brother and I still say that was the best Christmas. We thought we hit the jackpot no way did we know that we were broke.

Hopefully this Christmas will be as memorable.
