Who Are These Kids?

Happy 10th Wedding Anniversary to Me!

This is T and I, today is our 10th wedding anniversary. I can not even begin to describe how it feels to me married for 10 years a whole decade. We had only know each other less than six months and were actually engaged longer than we were dating. It all happened so fast and so has the last 10 years. He is the love of my life and my best friend. I love you T! (I know you read my blog)

So in honor of of this day I will be doing a giveaway. I will be giving away some of my vintage patterns and some embroidered button (I have not taken pictures of them yet) The only thing you have to do to enter is tell me your most romantic story. It does not even have to be your own. You have until the 5pm on July 5th to enter.

Happy Anniversary! We hit 10 years next summer. I can't believe it - it kinda freaks me out! ;)

So here's my romantic story - or actually, my parents' romantic story. I love hearing my mom talk about how she and my dad met. They were hooked up on a blind date. My mom grew up in a small town in New Mexico, and my dad grew up in Massachusetts. He came to NMSU for college, and this was where they met.

Apparently, my mom put so little faith in the blind date, that she didn't even both to fully wash her hair. She used Psst dry shampoo powder instead. Then when my dad showed up - it was love at first sight. His penny loafers and trench coat (things you almost never encountered in New Mexico) and his JFK accent had her swooning. The rest is history. They've been married more than 35 years. :)

I've always loved picturing them on that first date....

I have to laugh - today - June 28 is our 39th anniversary. I feel so old! We were married on June 28, l969 and my husband left five days later for a year of duty in Viet Nam! Everyone thought we were crazy. My husband used to say he got married and then took a years vacation by himself. It certainly was not a vacation but all worked out and here we are - 39 years later!! Love your vintage embroidery.

Oh congrats...10 years you can't be older than me. I thought you were way younger...

I have two stories...I was working in Europe on a tour of a children's production ( for only 3 months)and we went out in Dublin with cast and crew and I met a guy. I had been dating on and off but I met him we had drinks and I thought that was it. We exchanged numbers. We texted everyday and spoke when we could ( cell phones are out of control there). Whenever I was in a city close to where he was he would come with . One time it was only 14 hours in London. My tour family loved him I called home and said I was extending my trip for a week. He came up to London and we went on adventures everyday. The last night he proposed to me, after only being together 14 days out of 3 months. The logistics were a tough thing he lived in England and all of my stuff was in Florida, he decided after our horrendous goodbye at the airport ( so sad and miserable people were actually staring at us)to move to Florida. He called my dad and asked him to marry me and moved over 2 1/2 months later. We have been married almost 4 years and I am so lucky. He did so much for me and I try to do it for him all of the time..

The second one is I always ask the hubby if he would tell me how he fell in love with me. Usually at night before we went to bed. So two Christmases ago I got the best gift ever. I thought I was an easy person to buyfor (I am told I am not) anyway he bought me a message in a bottle. it is a gorgeous bottle in a little treasure chest and inside is a scroll with the story of how he fell in love with me. I bawled like a baby when I got it and still cry when I take it out. I have kept all of his letter from our time apart but this is the most meaningful thing I have ever been given by anyone...Love that boy!

Congratulations!

Here's my romance:

My husband tells me that the night he decided he wanted to marry me, he was driving a long stretch of road from northern Michigan back down to Detroit (where we live), and just as he was thinking about our relationship, a crane flew over the road above his car. He saw it as a sign- he's not generally a superstitious man, but he listens to birds. :)

Soon after, he asked for help from a friend who is a metalsmith and forged me a simple silver ring with a crane engraved on it. It is my most prized possession, and although it's certainly not a professional job, it's beautiful to me.

Our first child was born a week ago, and we're as happy as ever.

Happy Anniversary! I'm new to your blog through Heather's. My Anniversary was this month also, 24years and my how time flies when your in love.

I have to tell you about my father whom I never thought was a very romantic man. I'm the youngest of 7 children in nine years so we were like stair steps. On March 1, 2004 my parents were married 49 years. My father went down that day and bought my Mom a bell with 50th Anniversary on it. When my Mom asked why he bought it, he told her she had put up with him for so many years she deserved to celebrate their 50th early. My Mom was terminally ill and passed away March 13th, 2004. I was so proud that in those last days my Mom was so happy as he sat by her side and stayed up with her all night as the pain took her sleep from her. I was even prouder that in her last days she couldn't stop talking about their 50th celebration.

It is kind of ironic that vintage embroidery led me to your sight. It reminded me of my Mom's towels that were used for so many years and she wouldn't part with them even when they were rags because they were all embroidered by friends and family. I wondered why she used them if they were so precious, but I guess everytime she dried tons of those dished she did with 7 kids it must of reminded her of her blessings.

Thanks for the good memories a visit to your sight has brought. Congratulations on 10 years and enjoy your next 10.

Congratulations!!! yay!!

I don't know if this counts as a romantic story, but I knew my (now) husband was serious about me when he cut me a spare key for his car. :P

Happy anniversary to you both! I suppose my story with David (who I'm getting married to in about 7 weeks now)isn't the most romantic in the world - he proposed to me the night before he left Nottingham to move to London to start a promotion - 5 minutes after he proposed a fight broke out next to us in the pub we were sitting in. My parents had it better - my Dad was a real smoothie and he used to visit my mother every week 70 odd miles away, travelling with the guard on the steam trains, and each week he would take a bunch of Chrysanthymums (my mothers' favourite flower) and a box of chocs. They split up, or rather the families split them up, but they met up again years later and got married. I have some of the valentines cards and anniversary cards my Dad gave my Mam and they're so pretty. One of my favourite memories from being a child is hearing my parents telling each other that they loved each other before going to sleep - made me feel warm and safe x
